Leaving Orosi, this tour brings you along level gravel roads to Kiri Lodge on the outskirts of Tapanti National Park. After a brief stop, we remount to conquer a 45 minute "hill" that brings us to the trailhead for the 3 plus hour walk deep into primary forest. The ride back is a cyclist's dream - pure downhill all the way back to Orosi.
This park protects a large area of the northern watershed of the Cordillera de Talamanca. You will find a wide variety of trees such as giant mahoganies and Spanish cedar. Several mammals including ocelots and jaguars plus 300 bird species including the magnificent quetzal can be seen in the park.
